Welcome to the 1st Italian Piobaireachd Championship
Bologna, Savoia Hotel Regency, 13th and 14th March 2010
Welcome to all pipers to the very first edition of the Italian Piobaireachd Championship 2010 dedicated to amateur pipers from all over Europe.
The idea to start this championship was from Bruce Campbell and Pietro Malaguti, the former, director of Piping School and editor of Piping World digital magazine, the second being the director of Sgoil nam Piobaire of Italy.
The choice of the venue and city (Bologna) came from the fact that Pietro Malaguti has his own "headquarters" here and that Bologna is a very strategical position on the map. It's in northern part of Italy and very easy to reach both by land or aircraft. The venue (Savoia Hotel Regency) is the most exclusive accomodation for pipers, families and friends. The opportunity is to spend a nice weekend of piping and visiting the city, if you come down on friday. Bologna is the most famous town in the world for food, and has one of the oldest universities. The Championship competition
The championship is devoted to all amateur pipers who wants to challenge themselves and other pipers into a competition of great importance, winning the first italian prize for this category of music.
The competition will be judged by Bruce Campbell (international judge) and will be completed with a piobaireachd workshop for those who are now approaching this beautiful style of piping. During the two days meeting there will be space for everyone who is interested in piobaireachd music and in general in piping. Craig Munro, director of Wallace Bagpipes Ltd. Glasgow, will be present along with Pietro Malaguti, exclusive reseller for Italy to introduce this beautiful series of instruments. Wallace Bagpipes is also the official sponsor for the event.
All pipers who wants to come in Bologna on friday are invited to take place at Savoia Hotel, relax and have an informal and friendly meeting with Bruce Campbell, Pietro Malaguti and the city of Bologna. At 20:30 there will be a dinner in a good restaurant and relax..
